TLNWest signed on the air as a full power broadcast television station on August 31, 1998 as KWOK-TV. The ministry later changed the calls letters to KTLN-TV as a reflection of its parent company, the Total Living Network. The name change to TLNWest recognizes an emphasis on the West Coast and its transition to a wider array of viewing options. Both TLNWest and the Total Living Network are part of Total Living International, which has produced quality Christian programming for over 40 years. TLNWest is a platform for local and national faith-based and community organizations. Although TLNWest has served the Bay for two decades, the heart of the mission began over 40 years ago in Chicago through the launch of WCFC-TV 38, Christian Communications of Chicagoland (CCC). By the time the San Francisco market broadcast license was acquired CCC changed its name to the Total Living Network.
The Total Living Network uses media to share the life-changing message of hope found in Christ. This is accomplished through multiple electronic media platforms including over the air broadcast on KQSL, AT&T, Charter Communications 13, DirecTV, Dish, Google, Inc., Mediacom, San Bruno Cable, Xfinity Mendocino County and Wave. TLNWest is also available online through streaming on services such as Roku, GoogleTV, AndroidTV, Amazon Fire TV; and via live streaming on our websites TLNWest.tv (Pacific time) and TLN.com (Central time). The ministry also provides resources through direct MPGs products, CDs, videos and DVDs, through radio and through films.
As a broadcast television station – WCFC’s call letters proclaimed its mission – “Winning Chicagoland for Christ.” Since signing on the air in 1976 as Chicago’s first Christian television station, TLN provided airtime to a wide variety of bible teachers looking to reach people for Christ outside the doors of their churches or ministries. But we did more than that. TLN/WCFC led the way by being content providers as well, producing thousands of hours of original programming in the form of news, health, talk, children’s, ministry/counseling, prayer, music/variety/inspirational, documentaries and specials to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of our audience. Thus, the name change to Total Living Network – programming designed for body, mind and spirit. In the early 2000’s, TLN expanded its reach further by producing several Christian-themed films, and in partnership with Grizzly Adams Productions produced a national television series and specials for the PAX Television Network.
Our original teaching program Journey was distributed on Grace Radio. On a national level, TLN’s original programming was seen on affiliated stations throughout the country and Sky Angel, and now on the NRB Network.
Internationally, TLN partners with Alpha Omega television in Romania and SAT 7 in the Middle East. As a consultant to the International Correspondence Institute in Brussels, Belgium, TLN’s Jerry Rose wrote and narrated three teaching series in development of International Christian Education programming.
TLN is committed to excellence and has won numerous local and national awards, including over 30 Emmy awards and five National Religious Broadcasters full power Station of Year awards for KTLN. In 2018, TLN’s program Faith Chicago won the National Religious Broadcasters Program of the Year.
TLNWest ministries in the major markets we serve to build up the Body of Christ and further kingdom work for the glory of God. For the last several years, TLN has identified and come alongside specific ministries and helped them begin television programming of their own. TLN’s goal was to see an effective ministry expand the gospel and their outreach further through television. For 40 years, TLN has reached out to the communities it serves as partners, servants and leaders to creatively fulfill the Great Commission and the ministry stands ready to impact its areas of influence into the future.
