“…the righteous gives and does not hold back.” Proverbs 21:26
You are a gift to TLNWest. In this season of Christmas giving, I want to make sure you know that!
And naturally at Christmas-time, our thoughts turn to the greatest gift, Jesus, the babe – Jesus, our Savior. That gift is why we do what we do: the Total Living Network broadcasts the message of His love and truth because our nation so desperately needs God.
Now more than ever, as the body of Christ, we need to be strong in our faith. America needs prayerful Christians! During this Christmas season, I believe the two greatest gifts we can give to America are 1) to stand uncompromisingly for biblical truth in spite of our increasingly secular culture, and 2) to engage in serious prayer for our nation. James 5:16 tells us that …”the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” And not only can prayer bring healing to a nation, it can bring personal peace to troubled hearts: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
It’s time to pray. So, TLNWest is declaring a five day call to prayer during the week of January 7, 2019. Watch for more information on focused prayer areas January 7 – 11, 2019 in next month’s mailing.
Your donation this month helps us to “keep Christ in Christmas” as we air faith-based programs and specials that celebrate Jesus’ birth. While our society may bypass the true meaning of Christmas in the marketplace, TLNWest will continue to share what Christmas truly is: God’s greatest gift, Jesus incarnate, come into our world to save it. Here are a few programs I hope that you’ll enjoy on TLNWest this month:
As we come to the end of 2018, we count on your additional support to help us end the year strong. I want to let you know more about how your end-of-year gift goes beyond our airwaves and impacts the lives of our viewers:
“We recently heard from Vivian, a long-time financial partner of our ministry. Since her husband has passed away, she is no longer able to donate – but your gifts ensure that she can continue to watch TLNWest and be blessed.“
“Lawrence, once homeless and now employed in the biotech field, found TLN in housing provided through a church outreach. He shared that he would tape messages from key teachers on our station, study them and then share them with others who were trying to move forward with their Christian walk. Lawrence now serves on his church board and assists with Bible studies. Your donations changed Lawrence’s life.”
Thank you for making it possible for these individuals and countless others to find Christ, grow in God and stay encouraged in their faith through our television and internet ministry. As you send in your most generous gift to close out 2018, please remember to share your prayer requests with us. We’ll start praying for them right away – and then again as we join together the week of January 7th.
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year,
Jerry K. Rose

A Note from our President – From My Heart to Yours
When, not If
Decades of seeing God move in this ministry, and in my personal life, supports the use of “when” and not “if” in the underlined phrase above. “He stands at the door and knocks,” “He never leaves us nor forsakes us,” “He will direct your path,” – these are inspiring scriptures that also support the phrase “When, not If.” So my question to you is, WHEN He leads, will you follow.
Impact on Generations
The celebration of Christ’s birth is one of my favorite moments of the year. During a recent time of reflection, historical accounts of God’s leading leapt from the pages of scripture for me. Shepherds followed God’s leading over 2000 years ago when He called them to a manger in Bethlehem. They chose to leave the hillside and find the Savior. Wise men recognized the move of God and followed a star. Their experience altered their destiny and presumably everyone with whom they came in contact from that point forward. The impact of their encounters and actions influences the world even today, 2000 years later. Had the shepherds not heeded the words of the heavenly host or the wise men not followed the star, the historical account would forever be affected and their lives would have undoubtedly remained status quo.
Each of the individuals who found the baby Jesus in the Christmas story did so out of obedience to God. They weren’t seeking reward or recognition. Jesus miraculously entered this world to turn their world upside down. As a result of following, their lives would never be the same – and neither will ours. When we yield to the One who created us for a purpose, we begin to love differently. We serve differently. We understand with the mind of Christ. Our lives change.
I think often about a decision I made decades ago – a first step into volunteering for a ministry in the area of television. Years later with my husband’s avid support, I stepped out in faith to leave a perfectly good job and take the skills I’d learned as a volunteer to start up a full power Christian television station. God would later lead me to TLN where those early experiences and community connections aided TLNWest in ways I could never have fathomed. God’s leading does not fail. His plans are more than we could ever imagine for ourselves when we choose to follow them.
Will you follow WHEN He leads?
So, WHEN God leads, will you follow? Your response affects generations to come, and in ways you may never know. Following God’s leading often challenges us beyond our comfort zones and even personal strengths – but He does not make mistakes. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says “…My strength is made perfect in weakness.” God propels us forward towards fulfillment of His greater purpose as we read in Proverbs 3:6 “…and He will direct your path.” And like the shepherds and the wise men, when we respond, we are forever changed.
WHERE HE LEADS, WILL YOU FOLLOW?
Count the Cost
The costs are often great to follow where God leads. The shepherds trekked across mountainsides, valleys and probably unexpected terrains to reach Bethlehem. The wise men traveled a great distance and were interrogated along the way. We don’t always know where the journey will lead when we answer God’s call. In Genesis 12 we read, The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s home, and go to a land that I am going to show you.”
Consider the Reward
These individuals didn’t consider the risks or the costs to be too great to reach their destination – because they were called. Imagine how Mary and Joseph must have felt with the realization that only God could have led the shepherds and wise men to the specific location of Jesus’ manger in a stable in Bethlehem. When they encountered the ultimate gift of Christ, it was worth everything. The costs can be great, but the rewards are greater. Faith is the key.
TLNWest is committed to hearing and responding to God’s call. When He leads, it is our determination to follow. Where He leads is our direction. It is our prayer that you are called along with us so that generations to come are impacted through Christ – and are changed.
As this year concludes and 2019 approaches, we want to thank you so very much for following His leading and becoming an effective part of sharing the life-changing message of Christ’s birth and resurrection through the Total Living Network. People we may never know are following God’s leading even now as a result of your prayerful support. We look forward to concluding this year with you and to seeing all that God has for us in 2019!
